Below is a curated list of some tools and apps you can use to help unwind and manage feelings of anxiety and stress.

Calm

Calm includes a collection of meditations, mindfulness tools and music for relaxation and sleep. Calm have recently put together some free resources which are a great start to staying grounded.

SMILING MIND

Smiling Mind is a free web and app-based meditation program developed by psychologists and educators to help bring mindfulness into your life. Listen to meditations based around your schedule.

 

HEADSPACE

Headspace offers guided meditations and mindfulness exercises to help reduce stress and improve sleep.

WORRYTIME

WorryTime is a free app that helps manage anxiety, stress and ruminating by providing a place to store your worries until you’re ready to deal with them

DRS4DRS

Any doctor, medical student or spouse/partner who are struggling with their mental health

Drs4Drs offers confidential, free Telecounselling specifically for doctors, medical students and their spouse/partners. You can call the National Mental Telehealth Support (Telecounselling) 24/7 on 1300 374 377.

Anyone feeling depressed or anxious

Some useful resources on clinical support groups and how to get help for yourself or someone else.

Lifeline

Anyone having a personal crisis or who is feeling overwhelmed or having difficulty coping

If you are experiencing high levels of stress call Lifeline’s 24-hour crisis line on 13 11 14. This service is confidential and you can choose to remain anonymous. They have also put together a Lifeline Toolkit full of resources by topic and content type, including videos, reading materials and apps.

MENSLINE AUstralia

Men with emotional or relationship concerns

Support for Australian men anywhere, anytime. Phone 1300 789 978 or reach out for some online support.


Get in touch with a psychologist

There are a number of ways to access a Psychologist.

You can use the Australia-wide Find a Psychologist service. Go to findapsychologist.org.au or call 1800 333 497. You can also ask your GP or another health professional to refer you to a psychologist. You may be able to receive psychology services via Telehealth so you don’t need to travel to see a psychologist. Ask your psychologist or GP for details.

You may also want to checkout the Lifeline Service Finder which is a directory of free or low cost health and community services in Australia. Search for GPs, counsellors, material support and more.
